Ok, so I was trying to get Squidfont. I have been having troubles getting it for awhile (download links didn't work). But I have finally found one and downloaded it.only, now I don't know how to open it in FL studio. The file name is squidfontorchestral.sfpack which is odd because I have never seen a file like that before. I do not know how to open it in FL studio. I am a relatively newby musician, and even more so with soundfonts. I would really like some help with this.
If you can great. Im looking forward to using this a lot!Herdunculus. And those packs are just more soundfonts I can use right? Thanks for the reply! At 4/27/10 07:03 PM, Herdunculus wrote:Alright, so from what I understand, I need SFark to use soundfonts? Thanks for the reply! It's been a while since I DL'd the stuff you are talking about from their direct sites, but if I remember correctly SFark is a tool that uncompresses the sound fonts. It's much like winzip or winrar.
It allows the creator to compress them to more manageable download size.So what you need to do is use the SFark to uncompress the soundfonts. Then you put them in a folder that you want FL to read as a sample library folder. Basically create a new folder labeled 'soundfonts' or something like that. Then go to 'Options - File Settings'This will bring up a screen where on the left you have midi, audio, general, and file tabs. Click the file tab. Then notice there are folders that you can click on and assign FL to read as a sample library. So click on one of the folder icons, and then find your soundfont folder you just created with your soundfonts in them.
And select it in the pop up window.Your soundfonts will now be available in your browser window to the left when its opened. And it should be labeled the exact same as the name of the folder you are having it read. So it should be easy to find. For me the font is a green color, so that might help make it easier to locate.Like I said, its been a while since I needed to use SFark so maybe I forgot the exact way to use it. But I think that is how it is done, and I know that if you follow the steps for importing a folder with samples in it that it will work for you.Hope this helped, and best of luck. Ok forgive me if this is nooby but.I don't exactly get the part with the sfark.when I download something (squidfont orchestral, or a SF pack) what would I do next? I tried adding the file squidfontorchestral.sfpack but it had the wrong file extension.
So I went and changed the file extension to sfArk format. I added it to the list, but then it said that it wasn't the right file type or something like that. And now i'm stuck with a messed up file.I think I will redownload Squidfont Orchestral. I would like some help (step by step is best) for getting these soundfonts. I will try the other links that blackattack showed me.

So just run it like any other compression tool, such as winrar or winzip. SFpack files and SFark files are different. If you get an sfark file, you need to use sfark.
If you get an sfpack file, you need to use sfpack. Winzip for zip files and Winrar for rar files, and so on and so forth.Changing the file extension in writing does nothing to the file itself, and will not make an incompatible file compatible. From what you indicated, you only have sfpack files for now, so you only need the sfpack program. I only suggested sfark because you're likely to run into sfark files if you're hunting for soundfonts.
